A story of...
What began in 1911 as a garage in Pesaro, Italy grew to a successful motorcycle manufacturer. Six brothers head the company and in 1921 they launch their first succesfull motorcycle and not long after that they develop a 147cc engine which Tonino Benelli uses to gain a string of victories. In this period Benelli is starting to make a name for itself. They continue to expand their business and develop new motorcycles up untill the 1940's.
Perceverance
When the second world war came around the Benelli's had to dedicate their factory to the production of military vehicles. After the dust settled and the war was over Benelli had to rebuild it's factory and start from scratch. Through perseverance and innovative ideas they managed to build up the brand again and win a world championship in the 250cc class in 1950 with racer Antonio Ambrosini. In 1951 the iconic leoncino is released, to this day still a staple of Benelli's line-up.
A succesfull relaunch
In the eighties Japanese manufacturers were becoming increasingly competitive and Benelli as a brand changed ownership a few times. In 2005 Benelli became part of Q.J. Group with production figures of more than 1.200.000 vehicles and a workforce of 14.000 people. With the funds and capacity of Qianjiang and the heritage and style of Benelli the brand was successfully relaunched and continues to produce quality motorcycles and parts made in Pesaro, Italy.
